Eight Levels of Dog Classes

Sign-up starts Wednesday, Oct. 27 and Monday, Nov. 1 for winter classes. Please call 207-363-2574 or e-mail me at swtgrss@aol.com for more information on which classes will be available.

Classes NOT held in York maybe offered through our affiliate Piscataqua Obedience Club in Kittery, Maine, and Dover, New Hampshire.
Visitors are welcome!
Cost is $80 for a neutered dog and $90 for a non-neutered dog.


Puppy Training Kindergarten:

Limited to puppies ages ten weeks to five months. Heel, down, down-stay, sit, sit-stay, come on lead, stand. Crate training is also addressed. Problems: biting, jumping, protesting, house training, chewing, nail clipping.

×The Following Classes:
Start on Wednesday, Oct. 27 and Monday, Nov. 1 for 7 weeks at Piscataqua Obedience Club.


Basic:

Advanced Basic:

Adult dogs over six months of age who have completed at least six weeks of group training but are not reliable for the off-lead work taught in Novice.

×No class are being held at this time.

Novice:

Adult dogs who have completed one or more Basic classes. Finish, figure eight, stand for exam, improved stays, heeling, and recalls. Introduces off-lead work and increases reliability by training with distractions.

Canine Good Citizen:

Prepares dogs to take the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen test on the last night of class.

The following classes are offered for students who are interested in showing a dog in obedience competition.

Competition (CD):

AKC Novice ring requirements, etiquette and rules. Finish, figure eight, stand for exam, heeling, recalls, and stays. Practice as if in ring. May introduce down-in-motion, jumping, or retrieving (at the Instructor's discretion).

Open (CDX):

AKC Open ring requirements, etiquette and rules. Off-lead heeling, out-of-sight sits and downs, drop on recall, figure eight, jumping and retrieving a dumbbell. Ring practice.

Utility (UD):

AKC Utility ring requirements, etiquette and rules. Signals, scent work, directed retrieve, and directed jumping.

Routine Class:

Show-ring run-throughs for all AKC levels of obedience.
